Master academic studies

The Study Programme of Master Academic Studies – Computing Science and Informatics conducted at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš has 4 modules:
  • Software Engineering (SE),
  • Computer Systems Security (CSS),
  • Information Systems and Technologies (IST),
  • Data Engineering (DE).

Studies are characterized by acquiring narrow scientific-professional and professional-applicative knowledge within these modules.

Teaching at this study programme lasts two semesters (one year) during which a student acquires mininum of 60 ECTS.

This study programme may be enrolled only by the candidates who gained mininum of 240 ECTS credits either at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering or another akin faculty.

Teaching process at this study programme is structured in the following way:
  • For each module in the first term there is an elective list A for the module with at least eight courses out of which student chooses three, while two courses student chooses from the common elective block A for all modules.
  • For each module in the second term there is an elective list B for the module with at least four courses out of which student chooses one, while they choose one more out of the common elective block B for all modules.
  • There is research work that student performs in both terms in cooperation with lecturers at the study programme. During this work they get introduced with the latest professional and technological knowledge, as well as elements of scientific and research team work.
  • Master thesis that student works on is in the second, final term.

During the studies, a student needs to pass seven courses in the least, of which 5 courses in the first semester and 2 in the second. This structure implies that student chooses at least 4 courses that are specific for the chosen module. The content of courses is such that it upgrades the knowledge acquired in the field of Computing Science and Informatics, and it is generally to do with courses containing advanced topics.

In the first term students are to do research work that introduces them to scientific research through term papers and projects. In the second term there is mandatory professional practice with 3 ECTS, which allows students to confirm acquired knowledge in real working environment, preparing them for the oncoming work duties and master thesis.

Through elective courses, professional practice, as well as master thesis – the research work, students are prepared for the work on master thesis that carries 15 ECTS.

Teaching is conducted in the form of lectures, practice work and research work.

Lectures are intended for theoretical bases transfer, while during practice work, examples that illustrate taught content are elaborated.

Within study research work there are laboratory work, consultations, term papers, and projects.

Computers and projectors are used in the teaching process, and if necessary, computer rooms are used for teaching purposes.

Moodle platforms are used for all courses as a support in the teaching process. Work of a student, during the teaching process is followed and valuated according to the rules adopted at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš, of which students are informed in advance.
