PES – Since 1984 the International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics is organized at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš. Since 2001, the conference is regularly organized every two years and the organizers are the Technical University Sofia (Bulgaria) and the Ilmenau University of Technology (Germany). Prof. Dr. Dragutin M. Veličković (1942-2004) initiated the series of conferences in the field of applied electromagnetics and the first one was held in 1984 under the name First Serbian Symposium on Applied Electrostactics PES at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš. In 2001, Symposium changed its name into the International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics. The 10th Jubilee Conference was organized from 25-29th September 2011 at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš.

SAUM

The Association SAUM (Systems, Automatic Control and Measurements), one of the leading associations in Serbia in the field of automatic control, exists since 1985 under the name of Serbian Association for Systems, Automatic Control and Measurements and it grew out from the Association USAUM, which was founded in 1980 and is working currently as a member of the Union of Engineers and Technicians of Serbia. SAUM has significant activities, among which are three-year scientific conferences, held since 1982, and which became a tradition. SAUM conferences are considered as highly esteemed meetings both in national and international scientific circles dealing with research and knowledge application in the fields of Systems, Automatic Control and Measurements. This is indicated by the fact that around 500 papers have been presented at SAUM conferences, with many national and international participants. Beside regular conferences, in the past period SAUM has organized in Belgrade two international seminars „AUTOMATION AND ROBOT”, first in 1985 and second in 1987. The 10th SAUM Conference was held from 10-12th November 2010 at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in Niš.

The organizers of the Conference are the Faculty of Electronic Engineering in Niš, Faculty of Telecommunications in Sofia and the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Bitola. The first Conference was held in 1963 at the Technical University in Sofia under the name “Days of the Radio”, and in 1977 the name of the Conference was changed into “Communication, electronic and computer systems”. Since 2000 it has become an international conference under the name EIST (Energy and Information Systems and Technologies). The first two EIST Conferences were organized by the Faculty of Communications and Communication Technologies, Sofia and the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Bitola. In 2002, the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, Niš joined successfully the Conference organizers and then again the Conference changed its name becoming ICEST.
